well I think you’re right in that the atomizer is not a good reason to get a Virus. But if you know your Synths(which i think you do) you know how Powerful the Virus line is. I think the atomizer is an application best suited for Live shows where you have a number of preprogrammed songs and loops and want to add some improv Ala Daft punk alive concert….

If you feel that buyers should spend that kind of money just for one feature for the sake of intuitiveness……I guess. I can see it as a feature on a synth just for kicks but to go out and buy one just to add this feature to a DJ rig………I can see it. But hey if u got that kinda money to burn, then go for it. It’s not like were not in a recession. Don’t take this to heart, I’m just saying.

FINALLY!!! Someone who actually reads rather than just posting random BS. I take it that your one of the reps in the vid. You have a point, but lets be realistic here. I dont think DJ’s are going to run out and spend $2500 just for real time grainulization/ time stretching. It’s a pretty cool effect but how practical is it in a synth? Ease of use would be the least of the consumers worries when you compare the price vs feature. Also intuitiveness btwn the 2 mostly depends on the user.

the KP3 will but its much more difficult to get very precise and in time slices with the atomizer its much easier. plus you can use whatever effects you assign. on the KP3 you have to stutter in an x-y pattern it takes some getting used to but the Virus is much more intuitive. and you have to believe me not only am i a DJ but I’m a Certified Pro Audio Specialist! Besides the guys just having fun. its not like its a serious battle or something…

these synths are bad ass and anybody saying otherwise is a dumb ass wishing they could have. did somebody actually say a koog kaos pad was the same hahahahahaha get a clue dude. anyway, its about groovin at WMC not making a song to sell. if u had the polar under your fingers and the KRKs turned up ud freak believe me…peace from FL

Besides the nice Miami weather, the hotel and the Synth itself there is nothing decent about whats being done in this vid. This sort of antics is to be done with other equipment, not a synth. My 1st comment was straight forward and to the point. If you cant comprehend it(evidently not), then that’s your problem. In the mean time, you can get off my tip and keep moving forward.

The guy keeps snatching/twitching his hands like he’s really doing something with all this noise he’s making. What a useless feature for such an expensive piece of equipment. If I recall correctly, doesn’t the Korg Kaoss Pad(KP3) achieve the same/or better type of sound manipulation? Stick to the vinyl…….stay away from the Ivory…..lower your Red Bull intake.

Rather boring I think. Not exactly playing..is it?

  15. By weaponEX on Mar 18, 2009 | Reply

It’s certainly an exciting means of manipulation but can it really do anything you can’t do on a laptop? How ignorant is that question out of 10?

But seriously, does Atomizer behave like a more controllable version of the beat-repeat effect on Ableton Live? If so, that could be seriously useful!
